In Oklahoma, a student needs to have 1,500 beauty school training hours from an approved cosmetology school, which is approved by the Oklahoma State Board. Oklahoma also requires the person to be at least 16 years of age and they must have an education of at least eighth grade.

The applicant needs to have greater than or equal to the number of beauty school hours and credentials to be granted reciprocity in Oklahoma. Five years of professional work experience may also be considered if one does not have the required credentials.
